Private whole-boat or per-person — which is cheaper?
It depends on how many of you there are. A shared, seat-based Nusa Penida day — the kind Viator lists from USD 73.62 per person — is cheaper per head if you’re just a couple. Book a private boat and you’re paying for the whole hull.
But the maths flips fast. Fill a 15-seat Monohull SW3 at IDR 11,900,000 and your per-head cost drops to about IDR 793,000 — roughly USD 48 — which undercuts the shared price while giving you the entire boat, your own schedule and no strangers on board. For a family or a group of eight-plus, private is usually both nicer and cheaper per person.
What should you budget beyond the base charter?
The charter base covers the boat, crew, fuel for the standard route and snorkel gear. A handful of extras sit outside it:

No operator publishes seasonal price tables — rates are quoted as fixed “start from” figures — so today’s numbers are your best planning baseline. Looking to 2027, expect mild upward pressure as fuel, crew wages and Nusa Penida’s rising visitor numbers nudge base rates, with peak weeks (July to August, Christmas and New Year) tightening availability.
